As a writing coach I work one-to-one with you to develop your skills as you develop your manuscript. This offers you hands-on advice and feedback useful for your work in progress, plus skills you can apply to future work.
A writer client recently told me, “Because you see me as a storyteller and writer, I now see myself that way. You were the first person — and for a long time the only person — who believed in me. Because of your willingness to engage in this quest and advise me on my writing, I now believe in my ability to learn the craft. I want to write with beauty, power and truth. I have discovered my voice through writing and telling stories.”
“Brilliant and incisive help” was the comment of a business client.
It gives me great pleasure to help other writers to develop their own clear, powerful voices.
In manuscript evaluation of both fiction and nonfiction I read mainly for voice, setting, dialogue, pace, character development and other aspects of storytelling. I also note grammar, spelling, punctuation, diction and style. On a separate sheet I write comments on the writing’s strengths and areas for further work.
